“The HiSET program includes the elements that are critical to providing out-of-school youth and adults with the best opportunity to demonstrate their high school-level proficiency and their readiness for higher education or the workplace.”

The HiSET is the only test offered in Tennessee to help adults earn a diploma. Here is some basic information about the test:

• Format: The test consists of multiple-choice tests in Reading, Math, Writing, Science and Social Studies, as well as one written, argumentative essay. Students may take the test on a computer or with paper/pencil.
• Cost: The test costs $75, but there is funding available for qualifying students that will pay for the full cost of the test! Students may also retake any portion of the test for free twice in a calendar year.
