Workforce Essentials has a new powerful tool in its arsenal.  It is called EMSI which stands for Economic Modeling Specialist Intl.  EMSI has been around since 2000 providing high-quality employment data and economic analysis via web tools and custom reportsHave you ever been lost in the “data maze” trying to locate a specific piece of demographic information?  Census data, Bureau of Economic Analysis, Bureau of Labor Statistics, and Wage Data…..the list can be overwhelming when you are looking to extract the tiny bit of information that you need.

EMSI sells itself as a desktop economist.  The system collects and integrates lots of complex data and builds user-friendly outputs to make the data simple and easy to understand. Their reports help you understand all facets of employment and economic trends—industries, occupations, demographics, economic impacts, and even skills, job compatibility and educational attainment in a defined geographical area.

How will this help Workforce Essentials?  For one, it can provide valuable information to our partners in economic development.  We have already been asked to provide workforce data for companies looking to relocate to Middle Tennessee.  In addition, it is a great career development tool for our WIA customers.  If you are interested in learning more about EMSI, you can do more research at Economic Modeling or give me a call! ~Marla W.
